John White is a recognized leader in the renaissance of PILATES and the integration of movement education and health. John was the Director of Movement and Aquatic Therapy at Canyon Ranch and is now in private practice at johnwhitemovement – a progressive movement studio and teacher-training program in Tucson, Arizona.
John began his study of the Pilates method 36 years ago and has designed Pilates programs for the past 25 years. His students have included Olympic gold medalists, Wimbledon champs, Oscar winning actors and actresses and members of several royal families. More often, however John is sought out for his ability to work with challenging physical conditions, such as Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Spondylitis, Scoliosis, chronic pain and rehabilitation.
John embodies a direct legacy from Joseph Pilates, having been chosen and mentored by both Romana Kryzanowska and Ron Fletcher to preserve and promote Pilates' work. Romana was the primary force in John's progression from student to teacher, guiding him to a deep understanding of the work. In 2001, Ron Fletcher honored and recognized John with a rare certification as a Master Teacher. John danced professionally for many years, first in classical ballet and later in modern dance, most notably with the Martha Graham Dance Company. John has been living and teaching in Tucson since 1992.
John has been featured in magazines such as Men’s Health, Town & Country, Cosmo Girl and Pilates Style. He has appeared as a health and fitness expert on local, national and public television.
